Prescription databases have evolved over the past 5-8 years to the point where the "HIT rate" is about 75%. Rx reports provide a summary of an insured’s medication history as well as a list of prescribing doctors. Life and health insurance underwriters use Rx reports extensively in reviewing applications. For the life settlement industry, Rx reports serve as a low-cost, non-intrusive way to track and monitor the health of insured lives.

Rx reports include a history of medications prescribed as well as a list prescribing doctors. Doctor information includes specialty, address and phone number. The Rx report also provides links from each medication prescribed which indicate how a particular drug is used.

IBU clients who track with Rx reports keep a watchful eye for new doctors and medications as well as any changes to the prescription history. This eliminates the need for most phone calls. If a phone call is warranted, the caller is now armed with targeted, relevant information.As long as there is a proper authorization on file, IBU clients can conduct a prescription database check with no inconvenience to the insured.
